Live Meeting - Easy Assist
June 10, 2007 — ThomasEasy Assist is a product based on Microsoft Office Live Meeting to enable a support engineer to remotely connect to a customers machine for the purposes of troubleshooting a problem and help the customer correct it.
Remote assistance products in the past have had difficulties navigating firewalls for the necessary diagnostics to run. Easy Assist provides easy access to a customer system, while maintaining the security of the customer’s setup and allows for disconnection of the session at any time.
Get support with Microsoft Office Live Meeting using Easy Assist. To get support, you will need to give the following information:

Can easyassist be hosted by someone other than Microsoft. Is there a subscription service like webex? This would be a great tool for assisting other people.

Rick - Easy Assist is only available on Microsoft hosted conference centers.
If you are interested in this type of product, you should check out my review of Crossloop, it is a free beta product that has the functionality that it sounds like you want.

Hey Thomas,
I see your post on Crossloop, tried it but it does not ave the same feel as the Easy Assist tool. Do you know if Microsoft will allow partners or LiveMeeting subscribers to have access to EasyAssist to help there clients?
Your help would be greatly appreciated

Hank - I agree that Crossloop does not have the same feel as Easy Assist.
At this time Microsoft does not allow partners or Live Meeting subscribers to have access to Easy Assist, but that does not mean that feature will not be available in the future.
Feedback like yours is very important, and I am happy to forward your feature request. It is feedback like yours that motivates these features to be implemented.

There’s a better software application and more powerful than Easy Assist and it is called VPN. Virtual Private Network in short, it is a server/client application much like Easy Assist. There’s “GoToMyPC” software: http://www.GoToMyPC.com/Canada
“Google” VPN and you’ll see a lot of free applications.

Hey Hank,
Microsoft is planning to release Easy Assist to the public this year. It should be available along with Live Meeting.
