Humorous video about the current technical bubble by the Richter Scales, created by Matt Hempey, Mixed by Bill Hare based on “We Didn’t Start the Fire” by Billy Joel.
The middle portion of the video addresses blogging, so it seemed appropriate to write about. Well done and worth watching.

The original Bubble Video by Richter Scales was taken down do to issues with one of the photos used in this video. I will not elaborate here, there is other coverage concerning this issue. The following posts detail the issue:

I am not a lawyer, but I would think that the photograph would be covered under “Fair Use” but I have been wrong before, I could be wrong this time also. Reading the blog posts above, and being able to quickly locate others, this is quite a contested topic. I am sure that this will help bring this issue closer to resolution and hopefully bring greater understanding for the rest of us.

I love the video. I always loved the song by Billy Crystal. I had no idea FaceBook was worth that much. I love social networking sites. It’s a great way to meet new people and promote yourself at the same time.

Opal – Your typo made me laugh – Billy Joel not Billy Crystal. BTW You look marvelous ;). I have met some great new friends on the social networking sites, although I am not as active as I could be, and don’t promote myself as well as I should.

Yes Billy Joel! I always liked that comment by Billy Crystal. I haven’t seen him in anything for a while. I’m trying to become more active with social networking. I definitely see the benefits finding the time can be hard.

Ooooh, I love Billy Crystal AND Billy Joel. LOL @ Thomas telling Opal she looks Mahhhhvelous! My short stint with Facebook so far has been a scary one. I only knew four people but had applications, messages and stuff flying at me (still do) so that I couldn’t possibly keep up with it. I hardly log in there anymore – maybe it was just a bad first experience and my friends should have gone easier on me? I don’t know. I loved this video though as I seem to love parodies of songs – Weird Al Yankevic is my idol. 🙂

Opal – I am not sure what Billy Crystal has been up to late. I can’t think of anything he has been in recently. I actually saw Billy Joel in concert. We sat at the far end of the arena, and the guy playing the piano could have been anyone from what we could see. We had bad seats, but he played a great concert. With all that you are working on, I am surprised you find time for anything 😉
teeni – Facebook can be hard to keep up with. It is like blogging, if you don’t stay on top of things, you can get overwhelmed quickly. Song parodies, you will enjoy the misheard lyrics of Pearl Jams Yellow ledbetter.

The Yellow Ledbetter misheard lyrics was good, but those lyrics have been in question for almost 15+ years now anyway, so his guess was as good as any.
I’ve already been hearing murmurs of a web 3.0 already upon us. I’m not sure this bubble will burst so quickly. It is evolving outside of the standard WWW. The stuff Microsoft is doing around the 360 and Zune is bringing social networking beyond the computer. If you were on my friend’s list and had those devices, I could see the games you are playing, the music you are actually listening to, compare them against my own, and make new friends based on how I am really spending my time, not just what I type into a music, movie and interest fields in a website. I have more web enabled devices that are not computers than I do computers and I see more of that coming.

Oh yeah, and the way Microsoft has made their technology available to others to also extend what is possible is also cool. My XBox 360 has its own blog at http://www.360voice.com/blog.asp?tag=tttj
If you haven’t seen this site, it can be pretty funny. You sign up and it generates blog messages based on your gaming activity. It can be quite upset when you don’t play for days. With all of the new games, I’ve played way too much lately, so I am taking a break and that can all be seen through this blog. Sorry for the long comments.

TGH – I agree that there is a lot of cool advances being made in the social space and connectivty space right now.
If you haven’t you should check out this Channel 10 video Show us your tech: Steve Lindsay edition that demonstrates with the proper motivation, time and knowledge how far you can take connectivity with your home systems.
I will have to check out the XBox blog site. Currently my XBox 360 would be writing angry posts about how it feels alone and neglected. I haven’t had a chance to play in a while.
